We had a wonderful travel day on Tuesday as we changed locations. We flew fairly low over the Mediterranean Sea, Italy and Greece. Bobby was able to see Thessalonica out his window. It is so exciting for me to be in this part of the world. We have prayed for the people here as well as our friends working among the people here for several years. We have desired to be a part of that work for a long time so it is a joy for me to finally be walking these streets.
Tonight the boys and I got to go visit a neighbor's house to have tea and cake. It was so great to be in their home, they are such hospitable people! The boys played uno with their fifth grade daughter. They managed to do it without ever really using words and I think they all had fun. I sat with the women and did a lot of smiling and nodding.
We are staying with our good friends from Texas. They are learning the language here and seeking to live their life in such a way that many would encounter Jesus. As we prayed together the first night we were here, Jeremy prayed that all that we did, eating meals, walking the streets, encountering people, and talking together, that it all would be focused on the gospel.
It has stayed with me since last night and I can't stop thinking about it. I just want so much for that to be true of my life, both here and in the states. I want so much for my life to be all about eternal things and minimally about temporal things. It is joy and life, to be wrapped up in God and his purposes. It is ultimately death, to be wrapped up in the world. I long for the Lord to pry my fingers from earthly things.
That is my prayer tonight.
