Oh my goodness! Isn't he the cutest??
This sweet little guy has just moved from an orphanage in Ethiopia to our friends' house here in Las Cruces. Adoption is the coolest thing!
Our friends started the paperwork for an adoption last May. Their paperwork was finished and shipped to Ethiopia in early August. They received the referral for this sweet baby in November when he was just over a month old. Because of some delays in the court system, they had to wait until March for a successful court date and traveled to Africa the week before Easter. They are home now and all adjusting very well. William already has his jet-lag turned around and is sleeping through the night!
We have been so blessed by our friendship with this family. Although we had met them before, we didn't really start a relationship until we discovered that we were both pursuing adoption. We have cheered for each other and celebrated together at each milestone. It has been a great journey together and we hope that we aren't done yet! What an incredible gift for our adopted children that they will have someone in their life that not only looks like them but has a similar history.
So when I hold little William, I get goose bumps all over. He lived in the same room where our daughter will wait for us. We will probably meet her just outside the building where our friends met William and take her to stay with us in our agency's guest house just a short walk from the orphanage. Won't that be incredible? It seems like that will still be such a long time from now . . . but it will come before I know it.
I can't wait.
