"The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field." --Jesus (Matthew 13:44)
Two thoughts:
#1 - I must keep in mind that this is a metaphor (or some literary term that I'm not smart enough to come up with.) I know that’s simple, but so often I lose sight of the obvious, that the treasure is the Kingdom.
Jesus is trying to explain how great it is to be in His Kingdom. It is like treasure, infinitely valuable treasure!
#2 - The man, out of JOY, sold ALL that he had. To enter into the kingdom, it does cost us. Yes, all that we have and hold dear, even our lives. But, the man sold it all overcome with joy over what he was gaining. There is cost, but it is not sacrifice. We gain so much more than we give up, it can never be called sacrifice.

#1) ditto... to what Missy says. those times are very valuable to me-- in an eternal kind of way.
#2) i'm learning how to value the kingdom more thru a different way-- the loss of places. prior to the last year-ish, i would not have thought that i valued places/sentiment/ memories and the like so much. but all these things (and places) pass away, and His kingdom is eternal.
